Teeth Whitening

Stains on your teeth accumulate over the years from coffee, tea, juice, soda, wine, fruits and berries, sauces, salads — anything that can stain your carpet can stain your teeth. In addition, aging and even some types of medicine may cause discoloration. Teeth whitening works by exfoliating these stains from the inside out to bring your teeth back to their natural color.

Zoom Teeth Whitening

Imagine your teeth up to eight shades whiter in just 45 minutes. We offer Zoom teeth whitening, which consists of three, 15-minute sessions that all take place during a single visit. We’ll start by measuring your initial shade, as well as the final shade — your natural tooth color, which is unique to you.

Results Are Instantaneous

The Zoom whitening process uses a 25% hydrogen peroxide gel that is activated via a special UV light. You’ll see results immediately after the procedure, including measurements of your new tooth shade vs. your original. Your teeth will lose moisture during the procedure and be dehydrated, but will regain their moisture over the next several days. This is why it’s recommended to wait about a week before proceeding with any further cosmetic dentistry work, such as crowns or veneers.

Crowns, Veneers and Bonding Won’t Change Color

When you have your teeth whitened, it doesn’t change the color of any previous dental work. That’s because crowns and veneers are made of porcelain, which can’t be changed. The same goes for porcelain fillings.

But that doesn’t mean that you should not do whitening if you have veneers, crowns or a filling on a front tooth. In fact, the color of the restorative work is probably already lighter than the rest of your natural teeth, either due to stains or an imperfect color match when it was placed. If you’re concerned about your dental work standing out after a whitening procedure you have the option to check the mirror after each 15-minute session to decide whether you want to stop. The dentist will consult with you before starting the treatment to answer all of your concerns and discuss possible options.

Opalescence Go Whitening Trays

Opalescence Go is the professional alternative to over-the-counter whitening options. It’s simple, fast and a great-tasting way to either start a whitening treatment or maintain a treatment with touch-ups. It doesn’t require custom trays, which means it’s ready to use right out of the package.

Opalescence gels contain an active whitening ingredient that penetrates your enamel to get to discolored molecules. When oxygen molecules from the whitening agents react with the discolored molecules in your teeth, it breaks the bonds that hold them together. The oxygen molecules then spread to whiten the entire tooth. As a result, you are left with a brighter, whiter smile.
