Do You Know What Holiday Takes Place On February 9th?

February 9th is National Toothache Day! You might be thinking to yourself, “Why would I want to focus on a holiday that is all about celebrating discomfort?” While we agree that this isn’t the most enjoyable topic or something that should typically be celebrated, a large number of our clients suffer from a toothache from time to time. A toothache is typically described as discomfort or inflammation that is in or around a tooth.
What Causes A Toothache?
A toothache can be caused by a variety of reasons. It can be as simple as biting something hard, flossing teeth that may be a bit too close together, or getting something stuck between your teeth while eating. These causes heal quickly enough and are only an annoyance for a brief period of time. Unfortunately, there are also things that can cause a toothache which require a bit more maintenance, including:
- Tooth decay
- A cracked or damaged tooth
- A broken or displaced filling
- An infection
